Mr. Vladimir

If Verloc is the protagonist of this story, then Mr. Vladimir definitely has to be his antagonist. Mr. Vladimir is the whole reason Verloc's cushy life gets turned upside down to begin with. Vladimir even takes on a demonic quality in Verloc's mind that the book can't even fully explain. Vladimir hates the thing that Verloc loves most about his life: the fact that he gets paid really good money for being lazy.
