Garrett and Josh

Wendy's two fathers are very different people. She's grown up with her stepfather, Josh, and considers him her "real" dad because he's the one who's always been there for her, doing all the dad duties, like helping her with homework, making dinner, and taking her out for excursions on the weekend.

Garrett—her biological dad—hasn't been in the picture much. But when her mother dies, both of Wendy's fathers are there for her in different ways. Garrett takes her in, and Josh continues to assure her that he loves her as a "real" daughter. Part of how we know Wendy's story is starting to come together near the end is that she now has both of these men firmly rooted in her life. With neither of them going anywhere, she is well supported going forward.
