Antonina Żabińska Timeline & Summary

Antonina marries Jan, has a son, and moves into a zoo.
Antonina and her son must flee the zoo in 1939, when the Luftwaffe bombs Warsaw.
Antonina soon returns, but a German zookeeper named Lutz Heck takes the zoo's animals.
To fill the empty zoo, Antonina and Jan bring in Jewish refugees, hiding them in the zoo and in their home.
Antonina makes friends with artist and refugee Magdalena Gross.
Antonina develops a leg infection of some sort and is bedridden for a few months.
Jan's working for the Underground puts a strain on the marriage.
Jan soon joins the resistance movement and is taken prisoner.
At home, Antonina defends her home from soldiers by using what she believes to be super persuasive mind powers.
Eventually, the war ends, Antonina gives birth to another child, and her husband returns home.
