Bob is God. That's a hint.

Of course Bob is the protagonist. Not only is he God, which is kind of a big deal, but the whole book is about his romantic fling with Lucy. He's not the narrator but most of the plot hinges on whether or not he's going to have sex with a mortal. Everything else is kind of secondary. Ah, it's good to be God, isn't it?
