Thor (Chris Hemsworth)’s Timeline and Summary
- Thor grows up on stories of the war with the frost giants. Enamored of the tales of monster-bashing, he vows to someday do the same himself.
- He shows up to a big ceremony in which Odin proclaims him his heir. Thor's kind of a jerk about it: a big, self-important, give-the-nerds-a-wedgie jerk.
- The frost giants break into Asgard's vault. Thor's ready to rumble them right, but Odin says no.
- Thor and his buddies decide to go to Jotunheim and bash them some frost giants, against Odin's wishes.
- They arrive and trade some smackdown with Laufey before commencing the monster bashing.
- Monsters are indeed bashed, but they still outnumber Thor's band… until Odin shows up.
- Odin tries unsuccessfully to talk Laufey down, then takes his son (and friends) back to Asgard for a stern talking to about not starting a war.
- Thor throws a tantrum, Odin strips him of his powers and sends him to his room (a.k.a. New Mexico) to think about what he's done.
- Thor lands in front of Jane's truck, just in time to get side-swiped.
- Without his powers, he's in bad shape—though he clearly doesn't realize it—and Jane takes him to the hospital.
- He's still a jerk at the hospital, so they have to sedate him. He eventually works his way out of the restraints they put him in to keep him in bed. Then he escapes. Then Jane runs him over with her truck again...accidentally.
- They get him some clothes—giving us a shot of his shirtless bod, then take Thor out for coffee as a way of saying sorry. Much shattering of crockery ensues.
- He hears word in the coffee shop of his hammer nearby, and resolves to retrieve it. Jane and her friends demur, since they still basically think he's a crazy homeless person.
- Thor seeks transportation in the local pet shop. He's a little confused.
- Jane arrives to take him to the hammer: SHIELD showed up to take all her stuff and she wants some of it back.
- Thor and Jane bond on the road to the hammer.
- He sneaks onto the SHIELD site that has sprung up around the hammer and proceeds to brutalize everyone standing between him and it.
- He grabs the hammer in the middle of a raging storm…and nothing happens. Guess someone isn't worthy anymore.
- A raging god-like temper tantrum ensures.
- Agent Coulson interrogates him, but he remains silent.
- Loki shows up to tell him that Odin is dead (a lie) and that Asgard has made a truce with Jotunheim…provided that Thor stays in exile (also a lie).
- Erik shows up to spring him and they go out drinking together (with suspicious SHIELD agents following at a safe distance).
- He drinks Erik under the table and takes the man back to Jane's trailer.
- Thor and Jane stay up all night looking at the stars when he explains the structure of the universe.
- Thor's friends show up the next morning to bring him home, but their reunion is interrupted by the arrival of the Destroyer. (Loki does love his space robots.)
- Thor tries to keep the townsfolk safe as the Destroyer attacks.
- He hits upon a novel solution to the issue: offering himself up as a sacrifice in exchange for the Destroyer stopping its rampage. The Destroyer (and Loki) complies.
- Jane bids him a tearful good-bye has he expires…
- …but wait. Apparently, self-sacrifice is one of those things that makes you worthy. The hammer flies into Thor's hands, restoring him to life and granting him the power to smash the Destroyer but good.
- Post-smashing, he gives Agent Coulson a stern talking to and makes SHIELD give Jane's stuff back.
- He and his friends return to Asgard to settle Loki's hash.
- They find him over Odin's bed, having just killed Laufey and preparing to wipe out Jotunheim.
- Loki blasts him through the wall and head to the Bifrost to blow up Frost Giant Land.
- Thor picks himself up and follows Loki. And…fight.
- Thor eventually beats down his brother, and then uses Mjolnir to smash the Bifrost Bridge instead of letting Jotunheim be destroyed. Loki falls into the abyss and Thor is cut off from Jane, but Asgard is safe.
- Thor and his dad make nice, then Thor asks Heimdall if he can see Jane. Heimdall says he can and that she's searching for him.
