Character Analysis
The Prozorovs' eighty-year-old nurse, and the battleground for Olga and Natasha. Natasha wants to kick the woman out because she's a bit too doddering to work all that well; Olga calls her "Nana" and insists on taking care of her. Anfisa ends up one of the happiest characters in the play, living in her own room with headmistress Olga at the school. Escaping Natasha, staying with her favorite sister, and getting her own room? That's a pretty sweet deal for a Chekhov character, especially one who's a servant.
