Character Analysis
The old janitor at the County Council. He delivers documents to Andrey and lends a (deaf) ear to the guy's troubles. Not the biggest character of the bunch, but he's a good example of the old-school Russian peasant class before they turned all Bolshevik. Plus, he offers a great dose of comic relief when Andrey is trying to confide in him and he can't hear so much of a word the guy is saying. How's that for sage advice?
