Never fear. You're not going to be struggling up the mountain with this one. The action is straightforward, and Glaspell makes her feminist themes so blatant that even the most clueless men of her time would get the point. That's not to say that this play hits you over the head or crams meaning down your throat, though: it's still an eloquent, nuanced read. It just has the bonus feature of being clear enough that you don't need to crosscheck Shakespeare for allusion or consult the dictionary every five minutes.
