Saul

Okay, this guy is no Morpheus or Obi Wan. In fact, Saul doesn't really fit the guide role. Instead, he stands as a kind of subversion of the role. He is the one who should be able to lead Austin down the road to the success that Austin desires. Saul is a producer, and he is the one who can—as they say in showbiz—shepherd Austin's project along.

Saul fails miserably at this task mainly because he has no real desire to help anyone other than himself. He's out to land a project that will make him money. He's a gambler, and he threw Austin under the bus for a golf bet.
