Protagonist
Character Role Analysis
Austin
For better or worse, this is the guy taking the big time journey in this play. At the end of the play, Austin is the only one who has truly changed. While Lee certainly has an arc with ebbs and flows, we get the sense that he is not too far removed from the man he was when the lights came up at the top of the show.
Austin, on the other hand, could not be farther away from where he started. We see him as a writer and a family man trying to make that big step that's going to lead to some real success. He works hard and even does his best to appease his brother. In the end, he's ready to give up his family, run to the desert, and kill his brother to make it happen if has to.
