How It All Goes Down
Graduation
- Morrie dies on a Saturday morning, surrounded by his family who has flown in to say goodbye. Morrie had slipped into a coma in his sleep, which Mitch thinks Morrie would have preferred to causing a scene. Unlike his father, he died calmly surrounded by his books and his hibiscus plant.
- The funeral is kept small even though hundreds of people wanted to go; a couple of poems are read as his brother shovels dirt over his ashes.
- Mitch remembers Morrie's words, "you talk, I listen" (26.9). He tries to do it in his mind and it seems natural. Then he remembers why: It's a Tuesday.
