Character Role Analysis
Father Gonzaga and The Wise Neighbor Woman
Both the town priest and the neighbor lady weigh in on what, exactly, the angel's arrival means, and what should be done with him. The priest basically decides that he's not an angel, although he never gets confirmation from the Pope; the neighbor lady says he's an angel who must be killed, but nobody obeys. Both offer spiritual guidance—even if it's mostly ignored.
