Character Analysis
Mrs. Bryson doesn't get much page-time in A Walk in the Woods, but we think she deserves a bit of the spotlight. After all, Bill Bryson's ambitious plan to hike the Appalachian Trail would never be possible without her.
Just think about all the little ways she helps. She drives him wherever he needs to go and picks him up without complaint. She gives him advice on how to deal with Katz' insanity. She even makes him a "fresh packed lunch" every day when he's on the AT section near his home in New Hampshire (2.16.70). These things might seem insignificant at first, but they add up in a meaningful way.
