Tiffany Aching is definitely the hero of this story—as well as her own. She's a hardheaded, determined little girl who is setting off to track down her kidnapped brother. Does Tiffany wait for the adults or call upon someone else to help her? No way. She's got this on her own, and she'll brave the scary unfamiliar terrain of Fairyland if she has to. She's definitely a protagonist to be reckoned with.
