- Back when the Tin Woodman was a human woodman, his axe was enchanted by the Wicked Witch of the East. This caused him to cut himself to pieces over time. Piece by piece, he evolved into the Tin Woodman.
- The Tin Woodman is content to live a reclusive life in the woods until he rusts in the rain. Given some time to think, he wants to live and love again.
- After he gets a tune-up from the old oilcan, the Tin Woodman sets off with Dorothy and the Scarecrow. He's going to ask the Wizard of Oz for a heart.
- Along the way, the Tin Man proves himself to be a real workhorse, building everything from bridges to rafts to ladders.
- He's also a real softie. He cries for like three days when he steps on a bug.
- One afternoon, the Tin Woodman saves a field mouse's life. Turns out she's the Queen of all the Field Mice. It's good to have friends in high places.
