Two greater than sixty means what?

60 + 2 = 62

If Ben's height is 2 inches greater than that of his best friend Zach, and Zach is 60 inches tall, then Ben is 60 + 2 = 62 inches tall. Looks like Ben has outgrown Zach. Time to find a new best friend his own size.

To find to the number that is two greater than sixty, we start at 60 and move 2 places to the right on the number line:

Four more than ten means what?

10 + 4 = 14.

If Lisa has 4 dollars more than her friend Jo, and Jo has 10 dollars, then Lisa has 4 + 10 = 14 dollars. Rolling in the money, there, Lisa. Why don't you share the wealth?

To find the number that's 4 more than 10, we start at 10 on the number line and move four places to the right:

4 + 2.

If Thor has 4 dollars and her mother gives her 2 more dollars, then Thor has 4 + 2 = 6 dollars. Excellent. Now she can afford to buy a girl's name. Our apologies if you're a girl named Thor. We think that's just lovely.
