apr 27 Learn More John Milton Sells Copyright to Paradise Lost


On this day in 1667, John Milton sold the copyright to his epic poem Paradise Lost for £10. If you think that doesn't seem like a lot of dough, you're right; but at that point in his life, Milton was broke and unemployed. Oh, and did we mention he'd gone blind? Milton dictated the poem to family members who jotted it down for him. In other words, Milton was stoked to take whatever he could get for what would ultimately be deemed his masterpiece and one of the most epic-est epic poems of all-time.
