Harper Lee was born on this day in 1926. While Lee is most famous for publishing To Kill a Mockingbird in 1960 and then crushing everyone's soul with her portrayal of Atticus Finch in Go Set a Watchman, she also assisted Truman Capote pretty extensively with his work on In Cold Blood. The two had been buds since they were kids, and Lee helped him investigate the murder around which the best-selling book revolves and interrogate the locals. So they were kind of like a literary Crocket and Tubbs.
