aug 23 Learn More Lou Reed Plays Last Show With The Velvet Underground
Lou Reed played his last show with The Velvet Underground on this day in 1970. The deadpan singer and guitarist invented ostrich tuning. Sadly, it has nothing to do with giant birds playing guitars; rather, it refers to assigning one note, over two or three octaves, to all of the instrument's strings in order to create drones like you'll find in The Velvet Underground tune "Venus in Furs."
