dec 21 Learn More The Graduate Premieres


Mike Nichols' film The Graduate premiered on this day in 1967. Contrary to popular belief, Simon and Garfunkel's hit song "Mrs. Robinson" wasn't written for the film. In fact, the tune was originally called "Mrs. Roosevelt" because it was about—you guessed it—Eleanor Roosevelt. Once Nichols decided to put it in the movie, the songwriters made some tweaks; careful listeners will notice that the version in the film includes lyrics that aren't in the album version of the track.
