feb 09 Learn More Copernicium Discovered


On this day in 1996, scientists discovered the chemical element ununbium, which was later renamed copernicium, after the astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus. He's the guy that proposed that the sun is at the center of the universe. A practicing physician, diplomat, translator, scholar, and economist, Copernicus also originated two economic principles: the quantity theory of money and Gresham's law. In other words, he was a real underachiever.
