World Chess Champion Gary Kasparov defeated Deep Blue, IBM's chess-playing computer, on this day in 1996. In May 1997, Kasparov and the computer—now upgraded and called Deeper Blue—had a rematch where the computer emerged victorious. Kasparov accused it of cheating and demanded a rematch. IBM refused and dismantled Deep Blue. Sketchy? Just a little bit. And what's the lesson here? Even if your teacher just thinks you're cheating, you run the risk of being systematically taken apart and stored in an IBM warehouse in Armonk, NY. So keep your cell phone in your bag during class.
