In the case of Johnny Cash, who was born on this day in 1932, the song in question is "Folsom Prison Blues," which apes Gordon Jenkins' "Crescent City Blues." Jenkins received a payment of $75,000 from Cash for the song. Meanwhile, Cash received the Grammy Award for Best Male Country Vocal Performance.
