Alice Addertongue was born on this day in 1706. You probably know her better as politician, author, inventor, diplomat, printer, scientist, activist, kite flyer, and all-around cool guy Benjamin Franklin. Addertongue was just one of numerous pseudonyms that Franklin used; in this case, it was the nom de plume he assumed to write a scathing gossip column for his own newspaper, the Pennsylvania Gazette.
