The Supreme Court's ruling on Roe v. Wade legalized abortion on this day in 1973. It was decided at the same time as Doe v. Bolton, a lesser-known case that overturned Georgia's abortion law. Together, Roe and Doe established abortion as a constitutional right. Contrary to appearances, it is not a requirement that the plaintiffs' surnames in all Supreme Court cases rhyme.
