The Globe Theatre, a.k.a. Shakespeare's home turf, burned down on this day in 1613. A prop cannon misfired during a production of Henry VIII, and moments later, the roof, the roof, the roof was on fire. Fortunately, nobody was hurt, although one guy's pants caught on fire. The flames were quickly extinguished when another man threw a beer on them. Ah, the thea-tuh!
