J. M. Barrie was born on this day in 1860. While he's best known as the author of the play Peter Pan, he was also quite the cricket manager. In 1890, he founded the Allahakbarries, an amateur cricket team whose roster, at one time or another, boasted Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, H. G. Wells, Rudyard Kipling, P. G. Wodehouse, and A. A. Milne. The team was significantly more skilled at writing than they were at cricket, but remained active for over twenty years.
