The horror film Carrie, based on Stephen King's book, hit theatres on this day in 1976. When King isn't writing about buckets of blood, he slaps the bass in The Rock Bottom Remainders, a rock band made up of writers that counts Amy Tan, Dave Barry, Barbara Kingsolver, and Matt Groening among its members. So are they any good? "We play music as well as Metallica writes novels," Barry quipped (source).
