The Writers Guild of America strike began on this day in 2007 and continued into the following year. Screenwriters clashed with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers on several things, including DVD residuals and how much moolah writers deserved when their shows started being offered online. While most of your favorite TV shows ended up with shortened, or even altogether postponed, seasons that year, the strike was a boon for reality TV fans; unscripted content was in demand, big time, while the writers duked things out with production companies.
