Jane Eyre hit shelves on this day in 1847. Written by Charlotte Brontë, the oldest of the Brontë sisters, it was initially published under the pen name Currer Bell. It wasn't until a handful of Brontë's books were bona fide hits that she finally took credit for them. We don't know about you, but we would've jumped in there right away; maybe even taken credit for some of Emily's books, too. Guess those were different times.
