Jack Kerouac's novel On the Road hit shelves on this day in 1957. The author was secretly a huge fantasy baseball nerd. In fact, he created his own card-based game that he played all by himself for years. It was extremely thorough: he figured in everything from player stats and skills to contract disputes.
