On this day in 1974, President Gerald Ford pardoned former president Richard Nixon for his shady dealings in the Watergate scandal. When it comes to all things presidential, Ford holds a few unique distinctions: He's the president who served the shortest term without kicking the bucket in office. He's the former president that lived the longest (over 93 years). And he's the only person to serve as both president and vice-president without actually being elected to either position.
