Agatha Christie was born on this day in 1890. The Queen of Crime is the best-selling mystery author of all time. She was also once the subject of her own mystery, as she went missing for eleven days in 1926. She was eventually found hiding out at a hotel and spa. Christie never divulged why she abandoned her daughter and dropped off the grid for a week-and-a-half, but most people assume it had something to do with her first husband's philandering ways. In fact, she was registered at the hotel under the name of her husband's mistress. Mr. Christie, ya burnt.
