Miguel de Cervantes was born on this day in 1547. Almost everybody agrees that Cervantes' burlesque novel Don Quixote is a classic of Western literature. Meanwhile, nobody can agree on what Cervantes actually looked like. No picture of Cervantes is recognized as authentic. Personally, we choose to think that the writer resembled fellow Spaniard Antonio Banderas. Just with a bigger collar.
