- A whole gaggle of gals is waiting at Magda's house, eager to bring Ben home.
- Libby meets all the women and hears their sob stories.
- Magda forgives Libby for her "part in this fiasco" (16.58). Well, that's a relief.
- All the women there believe Runner, Libby's dad, did it, even though his girlfriend, Peggy, gave him an alibi.
- Speaking of Peggy, she's the special guest at this party.
- Peggy emerges and introduces herself to Libby.
- Peggy says she's going to recant her story. She wasn't actually with Runner that night, and when he did come home, he had scratches on his hands.
