When the Shadow disappears and is replaced by all the creatures from whose ashes he was created, a bunch of them are magical creatures from the world of Inkheart, though now they're in our world. Fairies, trolls, and glass men have to figure out what to do with themselves here, and luckily for them, Elinor offers her lakeside home as a sanctuary.
