Tinker Bell

Character Analysis

Meggie accidentally reads Tinker Bell out of Peter Pan, and right away, the fairy makes trouble. Meggie tries to catch her, "but the fairy slipped through her fingers and whirred up to the ceiling, where she hovered like a light made of invisible glass" (38.31). Because of this, Basta captures her, keeping her trapped inside a mug in his house.

Dustfinger sets Tink free after he escapes from the crypt, but since she can only make tinkling noises that no humans understand, we never really learn what her deal is—according to Dustfinger though, who spends the most time with her, she's "a vain little thing" (58.7). She eventually flies off to join the fairies that have been summoned from Inkheart, and hangs out with them indefinitely.
