Bella pieces together information on vampires, looking for qualities that they might share with the Cullens. Edward is beautiful, pale-skinned, fast, and powerful, so these descriptions seem to fit him well.

Sometimes life isn't rational and Bella opens herself up to all possibilities, no matter how horrifying. She's not sure what's real and what's superstition anymore.
