Glory
Every athlete dreams of reaching glory—being carried out on your teammates' shoulders, hoisting a trophy, tearing off your jersey after a winning goal, eating the best slice of post-victory pizza you've ever had. What does that glory look like for an NCAA soccer player?
As for awards, you can be selected to first team All-American, you can win a national championship, you can win the Hermann Trophy for player of the year, or be named Soccer America's Player of the Year (source). If you want to break a record, try scoring more than 7 goals in a single game—as Kristen Arnott did for Saint Francis in 2000—or making more than 39 saves—as Peggy Poore did for Radford in 1982 (source).
The media will be scrambling to cover your success in newspaper and online articles. You may even have a championship game or two broadcast on cable TV. Compared to NCAA football and basketball, it may seem paltry, but at least your school isn't turning a heavy profit from selling your jerseys without your consent.
