Odds of Hanging On
Div-III, 5 goals, 5 assists, GPA: 2.6
You're not cutting it and you know it. Your stats are far below average for Division III, and your grades are slipping. You don't have a scholarship and your skills are not as sharp as they used to be when you were starting year-round. An incoming freshman threatens to take your position, which cements your decision to 86 your team in favor of joining an a capella group on campus.
Div-III, 10 goals, 15 assists, GPA: 3.8
Your stats are pretty decent for soccer in general, but average Division III stats tend to be higher (source). You're doing pretty well in your classes, though, and you're considering dropping the "athlete" part of "student-athlete" to focus on mining and mineral engineering. No shame in that.
Div-II, 15 goals, 10 assists, GPA: 3.0
You're good. Yeah. You play, but you're not a starter. When the star players need a breather, it's your turn to sub in. It's not the worst situation, but it's not exactly what you envisioned when you were the hero of your varsity high school soccer team.
Div-I, 20 goals, 13 assists, GPA: 3.0
Nice start, freshman. You bust your butt day in and day out to stay on top of your studies and your soccer skills. You train, you play, and you're a big believer in teamwork. You've got the heart, but at the end of the day, you might not have the raw talent needed to stay on top of your game for all four years.
Div-I, 25 goals, 15 assists, GPA: 4.0
This is effortless for you. Child's play. You're disciplined, you're focused, you improve on your stats year after year. You've never been in danger of losing your scholarship, and you're captain of the team. No way would you give this up, nor would the coach make the mistake of letting you go.
