They say money can't buy happiness. Maybe this is what they're talking about. Looking at how much computer engineering majors make, you'd think they'd be happy swimming in pools filled with champagne, eating only the finest panda steaks, and driving a monster truck to and from your gold-counting appointments.
The fact is, most computer engineers aren't happy. Sure, it's only a little below half, but wouldn't even 50% be a little troubling? Especially when you're looking at so much money? You'd think that at least a few of them might not like the work but be happy with the cash.
What's probably going on here is that too many people decided to go into the major simply because the rewards were good. The unemployment is relatively low, too, so there's still a ton of demand for the position. So a lot of pretty smart people saw that and thought, "You know, I can deal with a bad career if it means money."
Then they do it and find out that it's worse than they thought. It's a sad truth, but no amount of money is going to make you love a job that you're not into. Think about that before you major in something like this.
Unless you're all about computers. In that case, knock yourself out, because this could be a great major for you.
