Jackie Robinson. Jackie played ball at Pasadena Junior College and UCLA. He earned a regional MVP award in his college days, which helped him get signed to the then-Negro Leagues. He was also the first African-American man to play in the white leagues.

He spent ten years with the Red Sox…then got traded away just a few short months before they finally broke their long championship drought. Ouch.
Robin Ventura. (No relation to Ace) Ventura holds the record for the longest hitting streak in the NCAA, with a college hitting percentage of .469 while playing for the Oklahoma State Cowboys.
