Maybe you played in your youth soccer league and scored a goal once. It was pretty awesome, but you never made it onto the varsity team. Unless you have some kind of miraculous Happy Gilmore-esque luck, you very likely won't be playing in college.

So maybe you played JV all four years, but coach liked your work ethic and sat you on the varsity bench during your senior year. You played for about eleven minutes in the last game of the season, and the team poured Gatorade over your head after you added an unnecessary (but still awesome) seventh goal to the game.

Your teammates nicknamed you Average Joe for your not-sucky skills (also, your name happens to be Joe), but you're not exactly a star player. You're really good at staying out of the spotlight, and you play on a local club team because you really enjoy the game. But your FIFA video game skills drastically outshine your real-life performance.

You can't be dragged off the field. A varsity player all four years, a member of two club teams and a travel team, you pretty much wake up and put on your cleats. You're a star player on your high school team, but you've met some tough competition in your travels—especially your rival, Juan Gomez, who scored six goals on you last year alone. (You may even have a Juan-shaped voodoo doll in your locker.) Still, your GPA is a bit lacking.

Your hometown practically has a shrine erected in your honor. You've been starting on your varsity team since your freshman year, and have been team MVP every year since. You're captain, All-American, and you won the State Championship for your team. You're on a handful of club and travel teams who were all fighting to get you on their roster. You're pretty much the best around.
