According to the ALA, A Wrinkle in Time is among the top one hundred banned books. What do people get all worked up about? Anti-religious content, overly religious content, witchcraft, crystal balls, and more—if you're a hater, there's probably something to hate on here for you. Some people have even gone so far as to interpret tessering as something sexual.

The mere fact of this book's status as a commonly banned book has had a mixed result, though. Sure, some people steer clear of L'Engle's classic, but others read it just to find out what's so objectionable. Interestingly, as the "Wrinkle-like" genre of books has exploded to incorporate fantasy, magic, witches, and more, Wrinkle itself has moved its way down the ALA's list to number ninety.
