• Piper already lives on Alcatraz when Moose moves there. She finds him and introduces herself quickly, partially because she's curious about Natalie.
• She arranges for Moose to meet with her dad, and sits in while he lectures Moose about all of the rules of living on the island.
• Piper corners Moose at school about starting a laundry service at school where kids can have their clothes washed by famous prisoners. She won't give up on him, even though he refuses to be a part of it.
• After the kids get caught, Piper shifts the blame from herself to her friends, and her dad gets mad at everyone except for her.
• However, she disappears for a while after this incident, going to live with her grandmother in Nob Hill.
• She comes back with more schemes up her sleeve. Her next scheme is to get the keys into an observation tower, so that the kids can watch the prisoners walk across the courtyard. This is another plan that Moose bows out of.
• Next, Piper gets wind that Al Capone's mother is coming to visit him. She rounds up the group and they sail on the boat with her; Piper tries to get the woman's attention, but it doesn't work.
• Piper starts hanging out with Scout, Moose's friend. She promises to get him a convict's baseball, which sets Moose on the hunt to find one before she does.
• She finds Moose while he's trying to drag Natalie home after the incident with 105. She manages to get Natalie to give the baseball to her, and tries her hardest to get more information about what happened.
• This leads to her next scheme: arranging a meeting with 105, which hopefully will give her an in to meeting Al Capone (which is her life ambition). Moose refuses.
• Piper shows up on Natalie's birthday, when Moose is walking outside with her sister to keep her happy. Together, Moose and Piper watch as Natalie meets up with 105 again. Piper also helps get Natalie home safely afterwards.
• Piper gets herself invited to Natalie's birthday party that evening.
• She helps Moose draft a letter to Capone on her typewriter, and agrees to slip it into the mail that her mother censors.
