Character Analysis
Chester Madden, Henry Wadsworth North, Lincoln Alexander Stephens
We don't get to know this "gang of killers" (85.4) too well individually, and we can't say we're disappointed. These men represent the lowest of the low. They beat up, rape, and even murder Black people for no reason at all, and their superior attitude runs so deep that they express shock when they're arrested for killing two innocent Black people. It's almost as though they think they have to right to murder people who are a different skin color.
The worst part? They don't learn their lesson. Right after the trial, the White Raiders are back where they started—in the Quarter, shooting people. It looks like even the trial of the century can't change their bigoted ways.
