Protagonist
Character Role Analysis
Violet Markey and Theodore Finch
Half the book is told from Violet's point of view—maybe more than that, since Finch's voice is gone after he drowns. You could argue that she's the "main" protagonist because so much of the book is about her emotional journey. She survives the book sad, but intact.
Finch tells us the other half of the story in All the Bright Places. You could also argue that he's the "main" protagonist because he inspires Violet's emotional turnaround. Plus, since his death is so sad, his character leaves an emotional footprint as large as his size thirteen feet.
