It's tough to pick just one protagonist when you're dealing with a class full of eighteen different narrators. Since each of Mr. Ward's kids get to tell their own story, we're rooting for each one of them in their own way. Tyrone is the closest we get to a single hero of this story, but his growth and development mirror the changes in his classmates, and everyone learns something and transforms into a better person in the end. Yay.
