- One afternoon, Bart goes to see Nola as usual—except she's not in her room. His first thought is that maybe she went home, but then he realizes she might be dead and he panics.
- He runs to Mrs. Straus's office. She informs him that Nola has had a setback; she thinks Bart should go home.
- Bart says he's not going home until he goes to see Nola. Luckily for him, Mrs. Straus doesn't need much convincing and they head off to Nola's new room in the super sick people ward.
- Nola's on oxygen and she doesn't look so good.
- Mrs. Straus wakes Nola up. Nola asks Bart to get her out of the hospital. Bart's putting together an escape plan when a nurse kicks him out—immediate family only—so he promises Nola he'll come back to visit tomorrow.
- Bart goes home and tells his mom what happened. There are tears, and he's embarrassed.
- Bart's mom agrees to take him back to the hospital the next day; she'll wait in the cafeteria while Bart visits Nola.
- That night, Bart has strange dreams. He thinks these dreams belong to Nola. Yeah, we don't really get it either.
