Character Role Analysis

Mickey and Derek

Mickey is a great guy, even though he has some small flaws that can get on Wahoo's nerves. He has dignity, skill, passion, and values; he cares about his family and will do whatever he can to keep them safe and happy. Derek, on the other hand, is despicable to most people and has no integrity whatsoever. He is greedy, lazy, arrogant, mean, bossy, in addition to being a lame actor. He only looks good on TV because of all the other people who work hard to make him look awesome, and he can't do a thing for himself. He lives alone and aspires to be even richer and more famous.

These two characters are not alike at all and we can understand more about Mickey, and forgive some of his quirks, because of Derek. Like we said, Mickey isn't perfect—he can be immature, hot-headed, and say the wrong thing at the wrong time (even if what he says is honest), but we like him all the more because Derek is such a jerk.
